International trade fair SPS 2024
This year's SPS automation trade fair took place in Nuremberg from November 12 to 14, 2024. As an international trade fair in the field of industrial automation, it attracts experts from the mechanical and plant engineering sector. The drive and measurement technology specialist halstrup-walcher was represented at the trade fair as an exhibitor and presented new product variants, among other things.
The automation of production processes continues to be a strong lever for increasing efficiency in mechanical and plant engineering. Current challenges were discussed intensively in this year's talks with SPS trade fair visitors. These topics include efficient retooling, modularization of machines and systems, standardization of components and sustainability.
Trends and innovations in drive and measurement technology were also discussed with interested parties and customers at the halstrup-walcher GmbH stand. The company also presented the new product variants that will expand the modular system of PSD and PSx 3xx drive technology solutions in the future.
Expansion of the PSD family modular product system
At SPS 2024, halstrup-walcher presented a new variant in the field of compact and dynamic stepper motor drives. The modular product system of the integrated PSD family is being expanded to include a variant with a torque of 10 Nm, with the same compact design. The 10 Nm variant is currently available for the PSD 42/43x with IO-Link, but is also available for other designs or bus protocols on request.
In addition, the drive technology specialist presented a new variant at the trade fair stand to enable more flexible cabling concepts when modularising machine and system components: the PSD family with IO-Link is now also optionally available as a variant with separate motor supply via L-coded plug.
50-jähriges Jubiläum der Druckmesstechnik
A special feature of this year's trade fair appearance was also the honouring of 50 years of pressure measurement technology at halstrup-walcher. The measurement technology division was established in 1974 and since then has stood for high-quality pressure measurement technology and differentiated system solutions in areas such as air pressure and air flow measurement, as well as for the development of customised sensor solutions. The measurement technology solutions have been fulfilling the highest standards of precision and long-term stability for 50 years, especially in the low-pressure range. This means, for example, that pressure cascades in clean rooms or clean production zones can be continuously monitored - for consistently high production quality and reliable personal protection.
To mark the anniversary of the measurement technology division, halstrup-walcher has organised special activities.
Faster development thanks to simulation models
As part of a special trade fair model, halstrup-walcher presented its standardised model files of the PSx 3xx family, which digitally represent the driving behaviour of the drives and can therefore be used in simulation environments. With the help of this digital twin of the drives, the components can be digitally integrated into complex systems as early as the development phase. The simulation of the drive profile could be tested by interested parties at the trade fair stand by entering the corresponding drive commands.
The functional models from halstrup-walcher were honoured with the Allianz Industry 4.0 Award 2024 in the ‘Winner’ category.
