halstrup-walcher GmbH is pleased to announce that it has officially become a participant of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). This participation underlines the commitment of the family-run drive and measurement technology specialist to sustainable and responsible business practices. These have been actively practised and continuously pursued by the company since 2008, supported by a cross-divisional environmental team and the sustainability staff unit set up in 2024, among others.
The United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest initiative for corporate sustainability and brings together companies that are committed to implementing universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. By being a participant of this network, halstrup-walcher reaffirms its commitment to integrating these ten principles into its corporate strategy and culture.
‘We are proud to be a participant of the United Nations Global Compact and to deepen our commitment to sustainable and responsible business practices. The principles of the UNGC are aligned with our corporate values and provide a valuable framework to further advance our sustainability goals,’ says Jürgen Walcher, who holds the position of CEO together with Christian Sura.
As a participant of the UNGC, halstrup-walcher undertakes to publish an annual Communication on Progress (CoP) that documents the measures and results in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. The company will continue to continuously organise its business processes and products in accordance with the principles of sustainability in order to make a positive contribution to society and the environment.
‘It is important to us to be the best possible partner for our customers in every respect, and of course we want to impress them first and foremost with our products, but also with our quality as a supplier. This naturally includes future-oriented topics such as sustainability in business processes,’ adds Christian Sura.
With the voluntary certification by EcoVadis, in which halstrup-walcher was awarded bronze in February 2024, and by joining the UNGC, halstrup-walcher emphasises the importance of this claim as a supplier in mechanical and plant engineering.
