Compact addition to the PSD family

The direct drives of the PSD product family are mechatronic systems with integrated control, bus interface and absolute measuring system that can be used without a battery. They are ideally suited for automatic positioning of machine axes during format adjustments.

With the latest development PSD48x / 49x, the PSD series of halstrup-walcher GmbH has now been extended by an extremely space-saving solution with the same functionality.

This highly flexible application is characterized by a shorter motor, which enables the compact dimensions starting at 63.5 x 63 x 42 mm.

With its lightweight motor of 500 to 800 g and a total weight of the PSD48x / 49x starting at 0.55 kg, this positioning system exhibits maximum speed and lightness, making it ideally suited for use on mobile machines.

Successful format changeover with intelligent direct drives

The essential feature offered by the PSD product family is the ability to realize higher speeds with integrated control and bus communication, even at low torques. This ensures a highly efficient automatic format adjustment of machines.

Thanks to the absolute measuring system of various rotations, the time-consuming reference travel is eliminated, and it also provides highly precise position feedback. Galvanic isolation of motor and controls enables an emergency stop function while still maintaining communication with the system controls. The drive arrangement is easily addressed using rotary switches. The direct drive is now available in both vertical (PSD49x) and horizontal (PSD48x) design. An optional, rotatable attachment housing allows the direct drives to be easily and cost-effectively installed on the machine in whatever position required. No angular adapters are required. By means of an optional hollow shaft, the PSD drives can also be mounted to a spindle without an additional coupling.

As for all other positioning systems of the PSD family, customer-specific adaptations are also possible in order to match the configuration optimally to customer requirements. The PSD 48x / 49x is offered in protection classes IP50 and IP65, and complies with CE/UKCA and NRTL standards.
